Rattery Village Hall – General Conditions of Hire
- The Management Committee accepts no liability for any accidents/thefts or damage involving vehicles on village hall property.
- Fire Exit lights must be switched on during occupation and Fire Exit Doors to remain unobstructed.
- No naked flames (including Tea Lights) are permitted in the Building.
- Chinese lanterns are not permitted on village hall property.
- No offensive weapons are to be brought on to the premises.
- No pets (with the exception of designated Guide dog or Assistance Dog) or Wildlife to be brought into the premises unless express advance notice and agreement is given relative to specific purpose / activity.
- All users must have correct and adequate insurance for their needs.
- The Main Hall floor is to be protected from any activity that might damage it, i.e. paint, sand, no black soled sports shoes or stilettos.
- All doors and windows must be closed when music is playing. Fans located at end of the hall can be switched on if required.
- All users are responsible for getting tables / chairs out and replacing them. Notice is required if assistance is requested by users, and an additional fee of ยฃ25 per event will be charged.
- All equipment to be returned to original location using the trolleys provided where appropriate to avoid dragging.
- All electrical equipment with exception of Wi-Fi must be turned off before leaving the premises.
- All doors and windows to be locked on leaving and the keys returned promptly.
- Heaters to be switched off before vacating the premises. An additional charge of ยฃ1 per heater per hour will be made if heaters are left on.
- Permission is required and advance notice to be given if users intend to use fireworks: (The Hall is located in a rural setting so impact on livestock and pets must be respected.)
- All catering equipment and utensils used to be washed/cleaned before vacating the premises.
- Charge for use of Toilets only per outside event: ยฃ10.00.
- Users are expected to leave the hall in the condition they find it in.
- All rubbish generated to be removed on departure from the premises.
- Please be aware that other rooms may be in use unless you have booked entire building.
Licences
A Temporary TENS Events licence must be obtained via South Hams District Council website in advance if you wish to sell alcohol or stage any activity outside the Hall Premises Licence times:

A Phonographic Performance Limited Licence is required when taped music is being used in public.
Deposit, cleaning and damage
A deposit of ยฃ100 paid in advance is required for a full weekend booking or Saturday evening booking with Hall cleared and clean by 10am Sunday. (ie Weddings / private party / high occupancy event bookings)
The deposit may be retained in the event of the following:
- if the booking is cancelled less than 1 month before booked date.
- if the hall and kitchen require significant additional cleaning.
- if damage/breakages arise.
- if electrical appliances and/or heaters are left switched on.
- if rubbish is not removed.
