The Parish Council are drilling further regarding what funding and options will be available to parishioners .

When we have any constructive news we will communicate it to you, in a timely manner.

The scheme has been set up by Parish Councillor Richard Haigh with help from Trevor Paul, who runs the village website. We hope that it will provide a very effective way for the organisers of the many groups within the community to keep everyone well informed.
Anyone who is a member can communicate very easily with the Rattery community by sending a single email to ratteryemail@googlegroups.com This email will be automatically forwarded to everyone else who has joined the scheme.
The email exchange will complement the village website as Trevor will be able to use the messages to keep the website up-to-date. A single email will inform everyone and update the website.
An individual memberโ€™s email address is displayed if he/she posts a message but membersโ€™ email addresses are not otherwise on display to the public, or to the membership as a whole. Membership is restricted to those people with a genuine connection with Rattery so that the scheme is free of spam and other unsolicited emails. You can unsubscribe at any time.
To join the scheme, or if you have any questions about the scheme, send an email to email@ratteryvillage.co.uk or telephone 01364 72239.

Reporting problems on roads
If you spot a problem on local roads please report it directly to the County Council via their website.
Here you can report lots of problems including potholes, flooding, blocked drains, ice, defective road markings and signs, hazardous trees and lots more.
You can send them a photograph of the problem and get reports on progress dealing with it.

This is the best way of ensuring that something is done – and the more people that report a particular problem the better.

Reporting potholes

The more people that report potholes the better, and the sooner that DCC will act. So please find a few minutes to report the potholes you encounter. An accurate map is of great help to the Parish Council in our attempts to keep on top of the problem.

DCC prioritises repairing potholes, on roads, that have a 40 mm (4 cm) vertical edge and are 300 mm (30 cm) wide as these are the biggest risk to highway users.

Criteria for Carriageways and Unmettalled Cycleways and Footways and Cycleways can be found here.

To report a pothole go to Report a pothole – Devon County Council

If you need to make a claim regarding damage to your vehicle, due to a pothole, advice can be found on the AA website here.

Drains
The Parish Council has engaged a part-time Parish Lengthsman. His job is to clear and maintain the drains alongside the parish lanes.
If you know of places where water is accumulating or where drainage problems commonly occur during the winter months please contact the Parish Council so that we can direct the Lengthsman to where his work will do most good. Click here for contact details of parish councillors.

Flooding
If you have any problems with flooding help is available.
South Hams District Council holds a supply of sandbags and householders can usually collect up to six of these from the depot in Babbage Road, Totnes.
Telephone: 01803 861234
Rattery Parish Council has, in addition, purchased filled sandbags which can be made available for parishioners to protect their property from flooding. If you need them simply get in touch with any of the parish councillors. Click here for contact details of parish councillors.
If you have already experience flooding, or you believe you may be at risk, there are steps you can take to protect your property. Further information on website.

South Hams District Council keeps the roads & lanes clean and litter free. Dog owners are asked in the interests of hygiene to clear up after their pets & put it in the bins provided outside the public footpath opposite the village green (church/pub) car park.
